1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, browsing, or using the Joy to Home platform ("Platform"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
Joy to Home is designed for use by parents and guardians on behalf of their children. You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use the Platform. By registering, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years old
- You are a parent or legal guardian
- All information you provide is accurate and complete
- You will maintain the security of your account credentials
Parent/Guardian Agreement: By creating an account, you acknowledge that you are acting as a parent or guardian and accept full responsibility for all activities conducted through your account.
3. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. Joy to Home reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Guest browsing is available throughout the platform. Account creation is required to add items to your basket, initiate rentals, or list books.
4. Rental Terms
4.1 Rental Pricing
The base rental fee is 10% of the book's listed price per week. Extended rentals may incur progressive pricing. All fees are clearly displayed before you confirm a rental.
4.2 Rental Period
Rental periods range from 1 to 4 weeks. Late returns incur additional fees. Significantly overdue returns may result in partial or full forfeiture of the security deposit.
4.3 Book Condition
Renters are expected to return books in the same condition as received. Damage beyond normal wear and tear may result in deductions from the security deposit.
5. Wallet & Payments
5.1 Virtual Wallet
The Platform uses a virtual wallet system. You must add credits to your wallet before renting books. Credits are purchased through our supported payment gateways.
5.2 Balance Blocking
When you rent a book, the full book price (market value) is blocked in your wallet as a security deposit. You must have sufficient unblocked (available) balance to initiate a rental. The blocked amount is released upon successful return verification.
5.3 Refunds
Refunds for wallet top-ups are subject to our refund policy. Security deposits are automatically released upon confirmed return in acceptable condition. Partial refunds may apply for returns in degraded condition.
6. Book Listing
When listing a book, you must provide accurate information about its condition, title, author, and price. Listings are subject to review and approval. Joy to Home reserves the right to remove listings that violate our policies or contain inaccurate information.
7. Fulfillment & Delivery
Joy to Home facilitates connections between renters and book owners but does not handle logistics directly. Two fulfillment options are available:
- Local Pickup: Renter and owner coordinate pickup directly.
- External Delivery: Owner ships via their preferred courier. Shipping costs, if any, are set by the owner.
Both parties are responsible for updating rental status in the Platform to reflect the current state of fulfillment.
8. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Provide false information in listings or reviews
- Engage in fraudulent transactions
- Harass or abuse other users
- Circumvent the Platform's payment or security systems
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
9. Limitation of Liability
Joy to Home provides the Platform on an "as is" basis. We are not responsible for the condition of books, the conduct of users, or any disputes arising from transactions. Our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
10. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these Terms. Upon termination, any pending blocked balances will be handled according to the circumstances of the termination and applicable dispute resolution procedures.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
